Backlinks and some facts!

I was wondering if the backlinks google shows really are that important!

I found that if a site is listed on a sitewide--of homepage on a site --it gets lots of Google backlinks from the innerpages of the same site--which are not really that helpful as they come from the same domain.

Here is an example-- I listed my BLOG on the home-page/sitewide of one of my directory and it got 5 backlinks from that directory alone. I also know some sites that has above 5K backlinks--but many of them from same domain --

While the backlinks count improves SERPs ---they are not very useful for PR --and G too does not like too many links from the same domain/IP.

Thousand links from one forum is pretty much the same as one link from one another site.

Links from different class-C IP worth more then from the same IP. Different IP is not already a different class-C IP, so you can use class-C IP checker (http://webrankinfo.com/english/tools/class-c-checker.php).

The age of the site with a backlink and the age of the backlink are also important.

I was referring to the same--- I saw many sites that have above 10K Google backlinks but those backlinks come only from few hundred IPs. Thats why I was wondering --how helpful they are ---all those numbers.:confused:

No one have the secret of google algorithm,
IP different theory is not really confirmed, there is a web site that have a page rank=6 and rank well and all links are from just ONE forum.

get more links is important and if there value is low, it is more important than nothing.
even more links will help with Yahoo and MSN.

Have you checked that PR6 site with Fake PR detection tool (http://www.seologs.com/pr-check/pagerank.html)?

The point of many links from one forum is not that such a link is not good but in this that they all comes from one site. I can easily make a second site and put 10,000 links of the first site on. This is of no worth.
You don't need to know all Google algorhythms...

I'd advise always staying away from automatic link exchanges. There aren't quick ways to the top of the SERPs, but there are some pretty quick ways to wake up one morning and find yourself out of the SERPs completely. Automated link exchanges can help you get to the bottom fast.

What Google sees and knows and what WE see and know are totally different, so I would not be surprised there.

Well I think if done in combination with organic link building one way links will not hurt you.
