I have an idea for a website but I need a million dollars.
What about YouTube Live. It would be like youtube, but all the videos would be live webcams. And they wouldn't be porn or Shamu, they would be people doing their own shows each Monday night, or whatever. You could subscribe to them or see what's on the different channels at the moment.
You'd have your own tv set with channels and stuff, but the shows would be people's vlogs.

I wouldn't lie, you'd probably need a million dollars for that :)

I was exploring the web yesterday and I found a site like the one I wanted to make! It's called http://www.ustream.tv/

Just pretend it doesn't exist and send your business plan to Google.

Sunfrog, I love the title of this thread. I feel compelled to read it every time I see it.
You could make it like YouTube meets Yahoo! radio. Mixes and matches different programs from users with similiar tastes to create you a tv channel?
*edit* think of the bandwidth :P

This idea seems pretty good but traffic would probably be high only when people are running shows. It would probably be hard to start and easy to end. You would literary need to get many people that are already well known around the online community such as comedians to help you out here. But I think that $1,000,000 is well worth the idea. So many zeros. :D

Good idea, but it's already been done, so you need to refine it. Thats whats tough about the web these days, most things that you have the budget for, have been done.

You would have to take the idea, like legend said, and then refine it. Perhaps break it down into categories. One of the big things you might need to do is get in contact with specialists in their particular fields. For example, get in contact with John Chow or Darren Rowse for a show once a week on blogging. Get in contact with leading scientists and doctors for a show on the latest diseases out there. Get in contact with those in the field of politics. If your site is guaranteed to be big (investing a million big ones), then people are naturally going to want to get their opinion on it. So, other than the fact you need the money, you need to ensure that the site is big enough to attract big time people.

I hate to inform you but you are a bit late on this idea, it is still new but there are already several large sites like this around right now. They are growing bigger each and everyday and if you ever want to be a monster in the market you need to get in there right now and get to work on the site if you want to do it.

Sometimes a quick idea should be action quickly otherwise it will be used by others in an instance.

Yeah if you have a good idea in this day and age of the web you should act on it fastly before someone else takes it!

And don't tell anyone else about it, or try to sell your idea in any way.
I sold an eBook with details of how I made $300 in a week, and now there are a ton of people doing what I was doing.

Stickam seems to do this effectively already. I've used it just now and then, just to look at live bedroom DJing (for those DJs that are not ready to play at the clubs, or just doing home studio mixes). But at least your budget proposal is reasonable. I think video sites are financially one of the hardest kinds of sites to break into merely because of all the bandwidth involved. I have a video niche idea down but not thinking of implementing it because of this reason.
