View Full Version : Where can we get the word out?

Since our contest has just launched, I'm obviously trying to get the word out as much as I can.
So far I've e-mailed the 500+ members of this forum, posted it on my blog, submitted a Digg article, just finished posting it on Digital Point Forums, and John Chow should be making a post on it soon.
I'm currently looking for some other webmaster forums to mention it on, but it is very hard to find any that will accept competition being posted; I give props to Digital Point for allowing me.
I'll also be purchasing a few paid reviews on some additional blogs as well, but other than that, does anyone have any ideas where I should be posting about the contest? Perhaps some other webmaster forums that would allow it, or some good blogs to purchase paid reviews from?
Thanks!

Hey,
Try some sites like http://pixel2life.com they have a competiton forum, you could also try something like your review batches on your blog for everyone that writes about the contest they get a free back link in a sticky thread or something like that.
I will post some more ideas if I can think of any!

I recently subscribed to ContestBlogger.com (http://www.contestblogger.com/) because I think that it is a great place to see the latest contests on the web. Basically, they specialize in the types of contests that a webmaster would like (at least, that is what they say). So, since this forum is offering so much stuff that would make a webmaster happy, I think perhaps getting your contest mentioned on that blog might send a considerable amount of traffic to the site.
Other than that, just try and get other bloggers to write about it. The big ones are good, but getting the word out to even the smaller bloggers will get you more links (if nothing else) and get more people to hear about it. I know some people that hate the big blogs and prefer the small ones because they like to see the small guy win. Who knows, though?

Yeah, I'm currently waiting for ReviewMe to get back to me regarding an advertisers account.
Regarding ContestBlogger.com, you may not have noticed that they are actually one of our sponsors :-) I might be able to persaude Phil to give our contest a mention :-)

Nope, I hadn't noticed. Truth is, I looked at the contest page for about three seconds, saw what was necessary to win, and then went to work. I don't really worry about the prizes until the winners are announced. But, if Phil were to make mention of the contest, I am sure that it would send a considerable number of people to the forum simply because the contest is offering such a large amount of traffic.
Rather than posting a thread saying "win this much money on my webmaster forum," why not just put it in your signature on that particular forum? Then, if you post well detailed, intellectual posts, the admin won't really care/notice that you are also advertising your contest on their forum. And, it might get you some more potential members. But, that's about all I've got for ideas.

You could try to post it in this forum for free http://www.pixel2life.com/forums/index.php?showforum=56 to get an annoucement on the news page I think it would cost money

Yes, I already sent them an e-mail since their rule state to contact them if it's regarding advertising a webmaster forum :-)
I just finished posting on Sitepoint, purchasing all the possible upgrades, we're getting a mention on BloggingTips.com tomorrow, and should be on John Chow soon :-)
Oh, and I just purchased 20 reviews on ReviewMe's marketplace.

You think John Chow could possibly do you a favor?

I would get someone professional to make you some small banners for $10, small Advertising Banners that allow members to add them to there Signatures at other forums. That way the word would get out more and you could also link to your referral link on the Banner.
If you need any help with someone who can make this for you, feel free to drop me a PM :p!

With the help of John Chow, I'm assuming that you will be able to get some other blogs writing about you.
You should probably try getting Shoemoney, John Cow and a few well other well known bloggers as well instead of targeting one. That's if you have not done that already. ;)

I think he means something a little bit bigger that you would wear as your signature in a forum. Forum is looking more active every day!
Some sites you may want to try posting at:
http://talk.iwebtool.com/
http://www.webmaster-talk.com/
http://www.webmasterworld.com
there is a forum I am thinking about but cant remember the domain...
