I've been with the planet (http://www.theplanet.com/) for the past few months now. Support is great and uptime is wonderful. I once had a problem with the dns not working and their support staff called me on the phone on a Friday night to let me know that the my websites were back online.

They were up and running fine when I got home and boy was I pleased. I've tried Liquidweb in the past and back in January - April while I was away from the internet, my partner reported to me that Liquidweb tried to update our harddrives and change them to a better one, however; they failed to bring along on our forum databases.

Needless to say, that forum had to start from scratch. 2,500 members, 60,000 posts and 5,000 threads. That wasn't fun at all.

So, who's your hosting provider? Have a story to share? Let us hear it!

Made2Own... they are awesome. Just 2 guys that run the company and I can hit them up on AIM, cell phone, etc pretty much any time and they help me out with whatever I need.

Not only that but I consider them friends now... I share ideas with them, ask them for opinions, etc... they are great guys. I actually just upgraded to a dedi with them and didn't even shop around for prices. I don't even know what they are offering me. I just trust them enough to hook me up.

They were my first hosts and I'll be with them for awhile, barring any monumental incident (like my sites all go down for an extended period of time or they close their business)

I'm with ThePlanet as well, but I'm not the most pleased with them. I use them mainly because they're big so you do get benefits such as affordable prices and a very secure datacenter, plus it's a massive hassle changing datacenters.

But I'm not the happiest with their customer support. Waiting times are "okay", and they have smart technicans there, but they are certainly not the friendliest. I've also had numerous hardware problems with my servers, and I found out that one of my servers had half the memory for like an entire year. When I notified them about this, they added the missing ram about 2 weeks later, didn't apologize, and didn't give me a refund for the time it was missing.

I have been with bluehost over a year I know shared hosting sucks sometimes but my sites recieve plenty of traffic and I have never had any problems unless it was with my coding bogging down the server about 2 years ago I have since learned from that experience.

I also have a cpanel account on my friends server I am not exactly sure where he got it from. It seems to be pretty good as well and I think he is only paying arround 30 a month. It may be a vps im not exactly sure.

Anyways back to bluehost I have found there support to be there for you all the time, I will wonder into live support at any time and there will always be someone on to help me if I need help with anything which is great. Also if I have questions or concerns they will send them right up to the top, I know they are not going to end at the person I am telling.

If your looking for shared hosting its bluehost all the way I say!

I am with:

site5.com
hostgator.com
and surpasshosting.com

I have shared hosting with site5.com and I must say that the service is quite reliable. Although, occassionally there are problems. I was billed for the installation of an SSL certificate twice and when I was migrating an account (from a site5.com account to another site5 account) my site was unavailable for over an hour (which I can ill afford - even though nameservers where still the same) ... this was down to their systems (and not forseeable). Basically i was told it was my problem and to wait.

Hostgator.com, I just signed up with them yesterday. I will keep you posted.

Surpasshosting.com, use them for my personel site. I just use it for e-mail, it is quite unreliable though, I frequently find the service down :'(.

I use godaddy on a linux shared hosting server. I have never had a problem with them. But I do wonder in terms of the search engines, the difference between Shared Hosting vs a dedicated IP.

We have been with Server Intellect for a number of years and have been extremely happy with them. They were one of the first Windows Web Hosts and Microsoft Gold Certified Partners to offer Windows Server 2008 'Longhorn' on all Dedicated Servers, with the most substantial upgrade since Windows 2000. The upgrades have been very beneficial to our business.

Just a quick post to let you know I've switched providers for my personal e-mail/hoisting to sherweb.com, I use their Exchange 2007 service. The service is excellent, it has never been down and when the service is being updated/undergoing maintenance messages are automatically queued at another server (so they aren't lost).

Quite expensive compared to normal pop3/smtp, I think I was about £50 for 1 year 1 inbox, I didn't mind paying it as I was looking for an exchange account and a reliable service.
