Like many whose enthusiasm exceeds his energey I satrted a numbe rof blogs with AdSense units on them, but hav eonly been able to devote full attention to two of them. traffic is picking up on the ones I am active in but the pay per click seem less and less. is theu the famous "value pricing" (which I don't clearly understand) coming to bite me becuase of ad dilution, or just Google normal ebb and flow?

Ad inventory rarely 'runs out'; there are so many advertisers in virtually every niche. You may be experiencing a wide possiblity of things here, such as it being near the end of the month when many advertisers run out of advertising money in their campaign in AdWords. Consequently, many publishers find the beginning of the month to be rather good.

Thanks for the comment Tyler. Looking deeper at this I see the main blog is getting substantially more visits than last month, but my clicks are way down ... so rather than worry about the sparse sites, it's time for some redesign and re-optimuize the AdSense integration. Best of luck in getting some traffic here ... in one way some might say, oh not another publisher forum, but OTOH existing ones are so full of "experts" that it's hard to get a rational answer to a simple question.

When you say your clicks are down, are you referring to CTR or CPC?
PF will get more traffic once it's skinned and I start advertising. Yes, indeed there are countless webmaster forums, although my goal is to have the professionalism and usefulness of Sitepoint, but keep this forum as a forum. I don't plan on ever launching other areas of the site, and want to keep this strictly for discussion.

....
Actually i spoke too soon about the number of clicks .. CTR ... it's almost exactly the same in June as in May .. but the profit CPC is half or worse ... in other words, dilution of the value of each click.
If I recall correctly I read that this could be a result of too many ad units on too many low/no traffic sites. Not really sure if that's the case but this month I'm re-skinning the two sites I wanted to concentrate on most and taking the ad units off the non-performing sites. We shall see.

Keep updating your blogs at least once a week, or twice a month. In two years time you will have some good content. Some sites can work really quick, but blogs work better over time. I was in the same boat about two years ago, and now the sites are performing well.
In general, any site that has article style content will prove much more usefull in two years when there is a lot of focused material and it has been indexed well. You will also find you have the traffic you need.

If you are trying to earn through blogs, then you should definitely update them daily. That is the right way of doing it. I think that you should make a schedule for updating your blogs. The important ones should be updated daily and the rest might be updated weekly. Also, if your revenue is decreasing, then don't lose hope. I am sure that everything will work out fine after some time and it might be a temporary problem.

That would be a little complex. I do them on alternate days. Then I ping it. As a result my blog performance is really good.

I agree with alok, if its a popular blog do daily updates. If it isn't stick to every other day or a little longer.
