View Full Version : Beware of Oridian.com

Tyler

I'd strongly urge anyone who is thinking about signing up with Oridian.com.

I've never heard of them either, but an agent from there contacted me, wanting to advertise on PokerForums. After politely telling him I wasn't interested, he replied with:

Tyler-

I am sorry to hear that for I wanted to see if we could palce our Gambling advertisers on your network such as party poker. We just received a $50K budget from them and you guys were the first on my mind. Well have a great day and please do call on me when have a little time. I will now look else where for them to lace their ads.

Have a great day.

Jason April

I replied with this, feeling that his "We were going to give you so much money but I guess now we won't" 8-year-old attitude was immature:

Hi Jason,

That was extremely immature and unprofessional and now I'm glad I didn't sign up with you.

Cheers,

Tyler Cruz
Merendi Networks (Merendi.com)

To which he replied:

Tyler-

What was unprofessional an immature my message below? You were the first on my mind to place a deal for PartyPoker? If anything I thought I was doing you a favor by even asking you if you wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. Looking closely at your sites, I am glad you did not sign up well. I am sure the ad placements would have done really well

The only statement that was unprofessional and immature was yours, your gald you did not sign up with us? Merendi Networks will go very far with you at the helm I am sure. Good Luck with your mini empire out of Mommy and Daddy's basement.

I responded with:

Hi Jason,

For your information I've been living on my own for over a year, and I'm buying my own place right now.

My upcoming site, PublisherSpot.com, will review ad networks. I will be giving Oridian what is deserves; if support is run by such immature people, do you really want to be doing business with them?

I will then be contacting your boss, or whoever is above you in the chain, with the review and your name. Do NOT think that I will forget to do this, and I can promise you that I will.

Good day,

Tyler Cruz

He replied with the following:

Tyler-

My boss name is Guillermo Rios, give him a call anytime you like. As far as buying your own place, congrats, best of luck to you. Being that your still green in this industry, feel free to throw my name all over the place.

I am known throughout the world my friend for I was doing deals while you were still being spoon fed by your Mommy. I am truly worried about any critique you might give, I am actually shaking in my boots. From your horribly looking website, I see you are also in BC, feel free to throw my name around up there too. JASON APRIL

Going forward, I ask you to change your tone or I will place a call to your Mommy and Daddy and tell them how disrespectful you are. It is only a reflection on them my friend.

Take care, good luck and I look forward to being 1 of 7 people viewing your new site PublisherSpot. Get a real job my friend, your NOT going to make it! Better yet, buy a Lego set so can indeed create your MINI Empire

Is this a joke? <He attaches the photo of me from my blog at the top right corner>

So, there you have it. Now, I've never heard of Oridian before, but how could I trust my money and personal account details with a company that treats people like that?

What a stupid guy.

Anyhow, I'll definitely be posting this on PublisherSpot once it's up.

I'm sorry Tyler, I have a lot of respect for you but I'm going to have to be honest here.

I think it was you who triggered it all. He responded with:

Tyler-

That should have been the end of it. There was no need for you to reply. I do agree with you that his manner and attitude after your second reply was one of immaturity and certainly unacceptable, but I can't help thinking that it all could have been so easily avoided.

I still think he started it, trying to throw a $50,000 campaign budget from Party (which is nothing; obviously that $50,000 first gets cut in half (ad network keeps half, and then that's $25,000 spread out between all of their publishers. And it's all pointless anyhow, they could have a 10 trillion dollar budget - we're still paid on a CPC/CPM basis) as if I'd be jealous or something.

Anyhow, I could have responded with anything - I could have insulted his family, it doesn't matter. He is representing a company and I'm the prospective client. He is reflecting upon their entire company.

Tyler, with all due respect I agree with Gareth.

You should stop it before it starts. You are well known in the industry to give someone a bad name, but how do you know he can't do the same?

This guy works for a company, he'll still earn a wage cheque if the company isn't doing well. However, you work for yourself, and won't see any money if your sites aren't performing well. You don't want one idiot possibly ruining it (I'm not saying he could)

Remember, you'll earn more respect from ignoring idiots like him and getting on with your life, not having a little bitchy e-mail fight.

I hope you don't take my comments the wrong way.

Yer sorry tyler but there was nothing really immature about his first post or response. If he said we have a 50k budget so what, you should have just left it at that. By replying to him you wernt going to gain anything were you ? So there was no point.

You shouldnt let pride get in the way of whats right :P

Let me ask you this: would you consider signing up with them now, knowing that a person in a senior position acts like that? Do you feel confident in them and trust them?

Normally I do just 'walk away' or block things like this, but when people hold a position where they aren't just representing themselves, I'll often let them know not everyone will stand for it and that they can't walk over everyone like that.

Anyhow, I believe you guys are missing the point. I could have called him all these names and everything, but no matter what I do, he should never have acted the way he did. I've never had anyone in the business act to me like that before. I would never trust an account with them.

I agree with everyone else about the "walking away" part, but then after seeing his responses he did make himself out to be a jackass.

out of Mommy and Daddy's basement.

Sigh.

Tyler the guy that sent the email had a point your accusation was out of line but his response was a bit childish with the mommy and daddys basement. It wouldn't surprise me if he is the boss.
I wouldn't even let it bother me, I have had plenty of email arguments with spammers and others, you just waste your time, I don't even bother responding now.

Tyler,

Thanks for posting your correspondence with the guy from Oridian. He also contacted me with the same form letter.

Something about the way he sounded raised some red flags. (Frankly, it reminded me a LOT of the way a lot of Nigerian scam e-mails sound.)

After seeing the way he reacted to your rather innocuous comment about the (alleged) $50,000 deal, I now know that I don't want anything whatsoever to do with Oridian.

Again, thanks!

Honestly, I wouldn't mind signing up with Oridian. His first reply wasn't rude at all in my eyes, and didn't deserve a response. The only reason he said those immature things is because you responded with inappropriate comments yourself. Just because he said nasty things back doesn't mean much, he was ONLY rude when you, the client was rude. Seeing as this wouldn't have happened normally, I wouldn't mind dealing with them.

I respectfully disagree, andrewr. While Tyler's reply wasn't necessarily friendly, I have to say that it wasn't inappropriate either. I mean, think about it. Some guy writes you out of the clear blue with a proposal. You think about it and politely decline.

Then HE writes YOU back to further cajole you by throwing around some inflated numbers (along with third-grade typographical errors). Tyler was well within his rights to respond as he did. And I, for one, am glad that he did --- because now I know just what kind of person I'd be dealing with at Oridian.

Thanks gophergas, and I'm glad to see Oridian lose yet another customer :)

I've had several people e-mail me now, stating they've had similar horrible experiences with Oridian; many people seem to not even make it past the initial e-mail stage to signing up - more proof that they really need to rehire and revamp their customer support and scouts.

Would you believe this guy contacted me AGAIN, acting as if instead of turning them down, I said I was interested??? Oh, and he referenced the posts here, saying that he "enjoyed" them.

Seems to me, if he had read these posts, he'd know what the collective opinion is -- not to mention the fact that I have no intention of EVER doing business with an outfit like that.

It's enough to make you roll your eyes.

He e-mailed me yesterday as well. Sad.

I'm going to respond by notifying him that I'll be sure to list his site on my up and coming PublisherSpot.com and to stop harassing me now.

*sigh* - can't believe there are people like this out there...

Thanks for telling us about it Tyler. I have not yet entered the Poker business. But I will keep this site in my mind if I ever get started in this area.

I have not yet entered the Poker business.

You should.

There is a lot of money that can be made. Also money can be lost. I play the casinos and poker often. I have made lots and also lost too. But that is the way one learns.
