I just noticed that my left monitor has a slightly whitish horizontal streak running across it. It's not on the outside such as dust, and it stays put on the screen if I run windows across it.

It does not appear if I take a screenshot. I tried rebooting, changing the refresh rate, and checking if the cords were all connected properly.

Any ideas as to what this is? The monitor is not even 6 months old I don't think...

Thanks in advance.

It's normal. I have the same thing (but it runs down the screen every few seconds, hardly noticable). I don't think there is anything you can do, but maybe just ignore it? But maybe try updating your video drivers first.

Hi,

An update here. I brought it in to the place I bought it from, and talked to the owner. At first they didn't see it, I had to change the desktop background and show them. It IS very faint after all, I'm not doubting that.

Anyhow, he doesn't have those anymore in stock so he couldn't just replace it for me. However, he confirmed that it did come with a 3-year-warranty and that if I wanted, I could send it to Acer and either get a replacement, or have it fixed (the screen replaced). He said it'd be back in 5-8 days.

Now, I have two problems with this: 1. It may be so minor that they don't even do anything. 2. I'd have to wait a week with only one monitor. I don't know if getting a possible fix/replacement monitor is worth a week without a second monitor.

Lastly, the warranty is indeed good for 3 years, and the monitor is only 3 months old - what I think I'll do is just keep it, since it's so minor, and if it ever gets worse, then I'll get it replaced.

Does that sound good?

I'd keep it for now Tyler, if it was really bad then I would send it back. It's not stopping you from doing anything, so there seems to be no problem.

If it gets worse you know you can send it back. :)

Are these problems fixed? If not, then you might try posting some threads about it at Chip India. The people there are really helpful.

Tyler check out this program, maybe it can help you out.

http://udpix.free.fr/

It's called UD Pixel, it's suppose to remove dead pixels (or stuck pixels).
I used it before.

hmm i think the problem tyler has is a hardware problem, so that program will not help. (or does it?)
