I am new to the web publishing lingo world. In VB when people talking about having a design coded, does that mean just changing the template to fit the images.

If so, we are talking about html/css coding mostly right.

Getting a design coded means you want it to be integrated with vBulletin or whatever software you are using. Which means you usually need to have a knowledge of the variables that need including such as the <if> and what have you. It is not as simple as HTML/CSS but if you already have the design coded in that, I am sure you could just get a list of necessary variables and just include them in the right place

Right.

Having a vB skin 'coded' means to have it custom-fit with the vB engine. This 'can' be complicated and intricate, but it's not rocket science.

However, it's really best to just hire an experienced vB coder as they'll know the in's and out's of it which is invaluable.

Usually, too, they take care of the splicing and HTML for you, just needing a PSD or source image file.

www.vbulletin.org has some nice tutorials on coding a design to fit vbulletin. We got my design coded the day i bought my vbulletin license.

I think what you mean by "vb coding" is turning a graphic design into a xhtml/css template and then skinning it to the vb engine. Else it would just be coding, vb coding means skinning. Or programming mods for it, depends.
