Go to google.com, search on the target keyword your website has planned to work on.
Then check the top ranking website, learn from it, and do better.

How to do better? Here’s some basic practices…

1. place keyword in < h1> tag in very top of the page

2. place keyword phases as the first word in < title> only, and contain no more than 3 keywords

3. On your webpage, set your first graphic with ALT set to your target keyword

4. build a text based sitemap, add ALT if it is an image

5. OPML / RSS site map

6. bold or underline keyword (1 or 2 times only)

7. The key word/phrase should be used again very near the end of the page.

8. try to register a good domain name with keyword (I guess keyword in subdirectory is ok)

9. navigation menu on the right, since googlebot looks from top and left

You have created a very fine collection, my friend. I would like to add some tips of mine to your collection.

1- Include Keywords in your meta tags. It might not benefit that much, but it won't hurt

2- Try to get lots of good backward links.

3- Create a blog on blogger which attracts traffic and link from that blog to your website.

The last technique has benefited me a lot.

This is a good thread.

Questions:
1. Can anyone explain and describe all about OPML/RSS site map craetion and position?
2. What is first and last word on the site? Can I chose what it will be? Is the first word that one in the Site Head?

Here's a collection of thoughts what affects SERPs (http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-ranking-factors.htm#sandbox) in Google (also Yahoo and MSN). Green colored factors seem to be reliable, other are debatable.
.edu and .gov backlinks has no more power then links from other domains (according to Matt Cutts), but .edu and .gov sites are often quality, so here's the reason for their high value.

Don't forget great content!
Optimising Meta tags, image alts and page headers is great but you need to have the content to back it up.

To really optimise a page, I always recommend starting with the content.
Lets say you have an average website of about 12 pages and have a unique service that you are trying to promote. Research your keywords and select about 12 that are highly relevant to your service.
Next, write 5 paragraphs about each of these keywords.
Then, using the advice above, create 12 new pages on your site targetted to each of these keywords and containing the 5 paragraphs that you have written.

Then, make sure that they are linked to from the rest of your site and tehn, most importanty, start building relevant links to those pages.

Don't forget great content!

Yes, SEO is only optimization, is only a set of measures to introduce your already established site to search engines.

It is interesting that visitors which like your site can do a lot of SEO for you with linking and reviewing your site. An ideal situation is : you make a content others talk about it and you have - free advertising, natural backlinks and consequently high position in Search engines.

What I have seen here are mostly off-page optimization--but one must not forget to do on-page optimization also --. A good site made ideally for SEs can do little without link popularity/indexing of lots of pages and lots of backlinks. But for non-competitive keywords--its just fine to do little bit of promotion.

For bigger sites with huge competition --one must keep a sustained campaing to build links with relevant sites and adopt other techniques like aloksingh said.

but one must not forget to do on-page optimization also

Someone who just make a good site with a common sense and has user friendly approach will have his online SEO done without thinking on it. Only if those brainless spiders can understand this.

Erm.. first thing. Why are you using something like freespace? If you dont want to get paid hosting, get a blog from www.wordpress.com for your articles. That aside its a very nice list.
I would also recomend that you add Silktide Sitescore (http://www.silktide.com/sitescore) to that list.

Ok, first thing: http://Freespaces.com has the best WYSIWIG site editor, runs fast, almost no downtime, 100 Mb of space. Fast login, good File manager. I've found it as the most appropriate for some "announcments" like above. Blogger and Worpress didn't meet my needs.

Second: I did try Silktide site before, but couldn't find out how it works, lol. You can explain it here.

Wpress (http://wordpress.com/) also provides a wysiwyg editor (http://wordpress.com/features/). You can stay logged in for as long as you want. I believe you didnt understand how to generate a report. Just click on the link I provided and choose the free report option (left one).

What I don't like at blogs is that the content is moving. I have to find the proper form for that "short resource pages".

About Silktide: I recall, it just didn't work last time. Now I tried and it gave me very different results as my other tools did. Silktide says that checked site opens very fast, but my other tools say it's extremely slow. Design and keyword content also can't be evaluated so automaticly.

Hehe ----why are you blaming the SPIDERS/BOTS? Do you expects someone who has little idea about Search Engines to rank high on SEs? I think SE spiders are just fine. They are not humans --to do illogical thinking and favoritism. I think thats quite good in a way--otherwise a friend of Google's employee would have always ranked high:D :D

One has to work very hard now and increase the quality of the site and contents to a topmost level in order to rank high not to forget the endeavor to try to make the site popular.
Yesterday I visited a web development firm which has been making websites mostly for government firms. They are totally unaware of the word Search Engine Optimization and were very frustrated not to find their company's website on SEs.
Weird Indeed.

I totally agree with you there. I always aim to give my clients not just good keywords etc etc but also superbly fresh content.
