Nice list, but not all are directorys, some are SE submit tools :P

btw i got a list of 328 free directorys (adding more everyday) hand picked by myself
maybe i will post it (will take some time to post though :P )

I am looking to submit some of my websites to them hoping that I can get a kick start in traffic and Page Rank.

Directories are not exactly treated as link farms by Google since they encourage to submit sites in directories in their own Webmaster guidelines. But a directory is a site with many outgoing links, which means that your link will get only a little weight toward getting PR . Links put on the sites with only few outgoing links have much more power.

Directories is a type of site, one of the oldest one. There are many legitimate directories, top examples like Yahoo, DMOZ, and there is really no reason for Google to automatically treat all directories as link farms. Google, however, is able to determine the quality and authority of a directory, and if the quality is low, so are the benefits of having a link from it.

I will go through above list to find if I can add some new directory in my very higly filtered list:

Only about 200 directories here, but: all free, static links, no reciprocial links (http://freespaces.com/freespace/SEOfriendlydirectories.html) needed and I hope fast accepting (not tested fully yet).
