Using Wordpress as a homepage to a forum. Good idea or bad idea?

Again, is your site a forum first? Or a site that happens to have a forum? It depends a lot on that.

I would recommend using WP as a frontpage for a forum, however I do not recommend using a frontpage for a forum. If you have a forum, first and foremost it should be a community, not a website in itself. Just add links on the side which will redirect to content or a "front"site, which isn't the homepage.

Bad idea, if it's a forum first, ;eave it a forum. It's less confusing that way.

Good call. I think I will just let the forum stay as the landing page.

You could also leave the forums as the index, and use some sub pages for your content

Maybe it is a good idea. It all depends on your site. If you have some articles written, then it is a very good idea.
