Is Doorway pages still used

It seems that doorway pages are used a lot by the people that communicate on here, so my question is why?

I thought that stuff really annoyed search engines. Personally when i browse the net and notice doorway pages I tend to get a bad first impression of the site, i guess something about them just irks me.


So why is it that they are still so popular?

I hate them as well, a bad SEO move IMO. It seems like the webmaster has something to hide when they do them. I'll never use one in my life time. :) Of course unless it is a porn site.

I don't know ANYONE who uses one...unless it's a coming soon page. Other than that, there's no real reason to have one.
