How does gmail handle spam

Does GMAIL go beyond the usual useless BS spam filters?

Have you seen your spam go down? (Of course, your address is "new" so it will start out with less spam, the test will be for email addresses posted publicly.

I have never had any spam problems with GMail. I think that they are the best email service currently. I think that they use lots of complex mechanisms to control spam.

Many of my important mails were tracked to be located in the SPAM folder. I wonder why and how did it reach there.

There is supposed to be some way they are doing this.

I get lots of spam with the account that I sign up on sites I don't trust will not send me 3rd party emails. Needless to say, it gets a shitload of spam. My more private email doesn't get much spam. <3 gmail
