YouTube videos can be played from a forum posts without going on a YouTube site. BB code for YouTube has to be set in admin panel of vB forum. Forum member can then just type a videoID in the forum post, putting in the ID displayed near each video.
Instructions (vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=199304).

this can be pretty useful, if there are many videos posted on a forum :)

That is a pretty nice feature. I'll probably do it on my future forums. :)

How do you do it on IPB forums?

Instructions for embeding YouTube movies in IPB are here (http://forums.ipbhelpers.com/index.php?showtopic=13124).
It took me a minute to find out this way: Gogle: Youtube embeding IPB.
Anything related to forum administration can be found on related forums (vB, phpBB, SMF,IPB, punBB...)

Lol ..
that would really depend if you have the addon/module/hack installed for dislaying YouTube videos by using the tag.
IPB makes me sick nowadays, both the user and the admin interfaces suck pretty much.
But embedding YouTube in vBulletin is pretty easy, coz installing the plugin is pretty easy by the developers and makes life easier for all the members out there :D

It seems it's currently not enabled here, if it was - above code would work.

There is no real reason to have it embedded here, this isn't an entertainment forum.

Being able to embed youtube videos can have benefits especially if you want to do a video tutorial or something and want to post it in the forums. Doesn't always have to entertainment related.

True, but you just have to rely on you members understanding on how to use it and not abuse it. Although I don't see a problem just linking to the video as well. Hopefully it doesn't pre-load the content, that would kill 56k members.

It doesn't preload the content so the 56k members wouldn't be affected. I use it on my forums and have had no problems with it.

SgtRumble would you mind to reveal how did you do it? What was the procedure and do you know how to do it in vBulletin?
It works (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCvxemo-ixg), by the way :) .

You have to put the part after "=" within youtube tags.
