right now i have 1280x1024 (17 inch) i used to have widescreen laptop, but its broken

Wow, can you read the text? I use 1024x768 and I already think about ZOOM.
Solution for this is a big screen like 30 inch. You can check a reviewed list with prices here (http://www.nextag.com/30-inch-monitor/search-html).

1280x1024 on a 17 inch is normal (at least i always thought so)
and yes i can read the text :P

I use a simple 800x600 resolution.

screen one (which is my laptop) is 15" @ 1024x768
screen two is a 22" widescreen @ 1680 x1050

that pretty big, i also have a 15" widescreen laptop, but i dont really like it, its only 800 pixels high

15.4" at 1680 x 1050 pixels. Nice and sharp :)

it's now officially more painful coming into work when I work on a 15". it's taken some getting used to, but I'm loving the addition of the 22" I have. On my laptop, I have email, IM, and browser for when testing. on the 22" i use dreamweaver and surf the net - so nice not having to scrolllllll left/right when i'm coding ;)

the only pain i find with it is how far I have to move the mouse to get onto the opposite screen

I have a desktop with 1024 x 768 resolution currently. I am planning on buying a macbook in a few days, though.
