Keywords are words which people enter in search engines.
If you want to be listed high for a particular keyword, it is good to have that expected keyword in a domain, title and subtitle of the site, H1 tags in first paragraphs of introduction tex in image ALT tags and in the site footer. Also in anchor text in backlinks.
What Probably won't help:
- If you stuff your title or home page with keywords to exent when it looks like spam.
Position of the site (in Google/MSN/Yahoo) in Google/MSN/Yahoo (for chosen keyword). Keyword suggestion.
Keyword density (http://www.virtualpromote.com/tools/keyword-analyzer/index.html). It shows which % of all the text your keywords represent. Shows two/three word keyword phrases also.
Hiding keywords behind images or with CSS can case you banned from the Google.
