Skin: Which file to edit?

My friend asked me to edit navigation menu of his blog (http://amazingindiaexperience.info) (b2 evolution script), so I copy-pasted its source code on one my site and edited it (http://freespaces.com/freespace/AIE.html). Now I want he copy-paste this source code and put it on his site -where? << This is my question. (His blog is on index page of his site).

**I can login in his blog, but I can't change skin from there. I can't login in his site cpanel for uknown reason.

I don't have any acces to his site, I don't know why, he gave me this URL: http://amazingindiaexperience.info/cpanel , it opens from his side, but not from mine.

I copy-pasted his site's source code, edited it on one page of my site and sent it to him via mail. He then copy-pasted it in a index.php file and it worked. I'm only not sure if it all worked properly. My question: Is this way of editing someone's site acceptable?

(He changed the site then again after that though).

Many things need to be changed, this is not important now. If you were asked for editing someones site and could not login in cpanel, what would be your approach?

You edited the page with the scripts source code? Should work if you did.

Yes, I edited his Home page script code (with WySIWYG editor to say the truth). My fear was, if edit a Home page only (and not the whole site) that this will cause problems. I'm in the process of understanding how the pages of the site are connected and how much they are independent. When you're doing a SEO of someone's site, owner may ask you to actualy perform the changes, not only to give advice.
