I did like a lot of the info in the article. Some of it I wouldn't exactly call 2007 strategies as they have been strategies for while, but I like you "Stop submitting to pointless directories, and submit to FEW high traffic and/or related niche directories ONLY!" quote. I think that is far better to pay for than some dumbed-0down no traffic directories.

Detailed and well thought after article indeed. But I can't agree with your directory submission policies.
Directories are still relevant as they will help you in link popularity. The might not give you much traffic as is the fact, but Google algorithm, however sophisticated may be still consider the popularity and reputation of your page.
I quite wondered if how much would it cost to link with 100 sites related to your niche.
But you were absolutely on the dot --when you say to take active part in niche community groups and forums. Forums are a great sources of direct traffic and article sites are not bad either. Most article directories allow linkacks and if you can attract readers with good article that you need to publish preety regularly- you are on it.
Submitting to meaning less directories is also correct to some extent. One must only submit to high PR directories that would increase the reputation of hteir own sites and also some hope for traffic.
I personally submitted my new blog to 250 PR4+ directories and had some links from article sites and now average 60-100 unique hits per day.
