PageRank update

Google did just update the PageRank (http://www.google.com/technology/). And im curious, how did the result planed out for you guys?

Well Joel, at least PR isn't all the hype it used to be a year or two ago. It's slowly getting less and less of an importance to most webmasters.

Here's how I made out:

PublisherForums.com: 0 to 4

PageDump.com: 0-4

AlienForums.net: 0-4

MMAForums.net: From #11 to #9 for "mma forums"

CookingForums.net: From #10 to #8 for "cooking forums"

It was pretty uneventful for me. Pollverize.com went from 0 to 6, but nothing changed besides that. I was hoping that some of my 6's would turn to 7's, but no.

Something relaly odd has gone on with this update.

On sites with no backlinks whatsoever, I recieved: 1x PR4, 2x PR1, 1x PR2.

I think it's a known fact Google are giving out decent page ranks for sites that are not even online and have no backlinks, it is pretty weird and has been happening for a few months.

I can't believe people are still even thinking about PageRank as purely a number. If some 100% off topic PR6 site can give you PR5 I really don't see what the fuss is about. I personally outrank higher PR sites constantly with on topic links. I think people should stop worrying about the numbers and little green bar.

(I'm sure I posted the same thing 2 years back) :)

..and yeah, since that update a couple of months back that sent pretty much any site with a couple of links to PR4 / 5 - I think PR (as a number) has lost its credibility.

On a different note... devspeak.org - seen you around from various blogs etc. Excellent designs, that's the way its moving, keep it up.

if we couldn't talk about pagerank, i think we would have to resort to posting pictures of how big our dicks are to resolve arguments. and i don't think anyone wants that. so, pagerank it is.
