A funny way to find a lot of free icons sites is to look for "Free icons" in Google images (http://images.google.com/images?q=free+icons&hl=sl&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title).

IconBazar (http://www.iconbazaar.com/) has alphabets, (all) countries, flags, mollecules, cars...You can choose 20 icons for free.

Favicon.com (http://favicon.com/) is a service which makes an favicon for your website (for $75). They have a free online favicon editor (http://www.imageauthor.com/) which doesn't work, at least not for me... I don't know how their business goes, the site itself is very well orginized. I liked their header on the first look, now I don't.
