So I haven't even started my website yet and I'm looking for design ideas.
Some site are beautiful but they feel too big. Like they don't even know you're there, or care. Then there are smaller sites which feel like you're going over to a friend's house. I want a beautiful website with a friendly feeling. Do you know what I mean? Not so polished it's aloof, and not so chummy it's amateurish. Do you guys know any sites like this? Maybe I can figure out what makes them cozy.

I think personal customization makes people feel cozy, or a personal feeling over a corporate feeling. Take a look at Google's homepage compared to their personalized homepage.

The most important design thing for me is easy navigation and I like if there are few elements on the page. I feel the site as friendly if I can contact admin easy and if I feel he really cares about the site.

Noooo~ Not the template monster! I can spend hours there! lol.
Personalization...hmm...that might be hard, but I'll think on it.
Friendly admin is easy, that's me. :)
