Hey there, I was wondering if I could get some opinions on my site and if it's worth moving to a self hosted wordpress install.

I started TasSense (http://tassense.blogspot.com) a few weeks ago because I enjoy blogging as well as blogging on webmaster/marketing topics. I thought I should start on blogger because it's easier than installing WordPress.

I'm thinking that Blogger would help me with promotion as people have heard of blogspot.com, but now I'm thinking that It would help me.

What do you guys think, do you like my content? Should I switch to WP? And if I do switch, how should I redirect people to the new URL (which would probably be on tassense.ej.am)

Thanks in advance for the advice :)

A firm yes, from my side. It isnt very hard - trust me.
Wordpress is very structured. Installing plugins and themes is as easy as unzipping and uploading.
And even, if you want to manually modify themes, its not very hard as there is a very detailed guide available in codex, and it is very modular. Add to that the excellent support forums.

I've used wordpress before, I just wanted kinda of a review of my content and if you think that it would be beneficial to move to wordpress.

yeahh, wordpress is much better if you want to profit from your blog. People pay higher for puting thier links on gud PR wordpress blogs rather than blogspot. And of course, its much more SEO friendly...

QUOTE]

1. Backup your Blogger blog content.
2. After you install Wordpress on your site, go to Wordpress and import posts from Blogger to WP.
3. Erase posts from Blogger and make a shourt note: "My blog moved to <your new URL>". (I'm not sure if you can make a 301 redirect from Blogger.com to your new site though).

I love Wordpress, and instead of creating sites from the ground up I'll typically start with Wordpress and go from there.

Also, having your blog hosted on something other than blogspot can bring a little more credibility.

Im personally a huge fan of WordPress, its so easy to customize, and plugins themes etc are simple to install.

I would certainly move to Wordpress if I were you. You just get so much more customisation so it doesn't look like every other blog of the millions out there.

Yes, move to an independent host. You'll be able to customize better, plus not look like the average blog spot template.

The best thing to do is to do a 301 redirect (http://www.tamingthebeast.net/articles3/spiders-301-redirect.htm). But, I dont think its possible with blogger account.

I doubt it, I wonder if <meta> redirects are allowed

Wordpress is much better than any other blogging platform. Even better than movable type which is paid. It's got lots of features and is a great developer hosted blogging package. You should surely move over to it.

The best thing about wpress, are its plugins. Since it is so popular and customisable, a heck of a lot of plugins are available.
