Well, not news for someone maybe, but I just discovered that you can find out which hosting server a site uses. Entering domain in this >> http://centralops.net/ tool gives you a hosting...in some cases...
Whois.sc shows only a network from where many hosting companies resell their hosting plans, but it does not shows exact hosting company.

Does this site shows in details about parent hosting companies too? I mean their plans --which hosting company is having which type of reseller accounts ( assuming parent companies have different hosting plans)?

The only way to find out which hosting plan someone uses is to contact site's admin.
But I've found pretty reliable way, how to find hosting from a domain.
You go in http:/7dnsstuff.com and put a domain in a Reverse DNS Lookup and press enter. Only domain.com is accepted, not www. domain.com or even the whole URL. You can enter IP though.
Read "Answer" and you'll find a webhosting company there.
You can try the opposite way. You find a hosting with good features, then just ask hosting staff to send you some sites hosted with them. Lunarpages (Im not saying anything about them here) promote some sites right in their header.
Judging hosting speed from the site loading time can be highly misleading if you don't check site's Home page size (right click - properties): if it is over 100Kb, it will probably load slow on the fastest hosting. But you can ask some friends around the world to open a site and compare loading time.
