Dancewithshadows.com is a News/Articles site (http://www.dancewithshadows.com/).
Site loaded in a good second on 1.44Mb connection.
DNS lookup (http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=dancewithshadows.com) shows that the hosting server is vulnerable for attacks.
First thing I noticed was a car, then a logo/title.
Second thing I noticed was - no descriptive title and quite small titles in upper menu.
Design: The header area is empty. Titles of articles are thin/small. Text also seems very unique, there's no word which would catch the eye. This might be important, since a visitor may experience browsing a site like a task. Some accents, bolded words here and there can help.
Navigation: The search field should go below the header. First searching option should be "This site" then "Web". You have one new message banner is annoying. Only few most interested articles with images should be placed on Home page, from other categories maybe only one can be placed on Home page, other titles can be showbn after clicking on appropriate category.
Content: Articles should be short. Source of articles should be revealed. If a site has only some news, it can quickly become less interesting. Decision about one very special topic updated regularly can be a solution. Some particular events can be followed from nearness, a story about it can be developed.
How to attract visitors? With no special keywords, search engines won't work but mentioning some news on forums can do. Webmasters are interested in designing/computing news, but not exclusively...
