I was reading Tyler's blog about Second Life the other day and I found this video today.

It looks better than Second Life. I hope Sony lets people make money off it besides themselves.

I wouldn't hold my breathe, I doubt it would be open source enough to give the chance to users to make money of it at all.

People love the open source. :)
I think it will be huge. The game I mean. If I can I'm going to try and buy billboards or something where I can place ads. I don't know how to do 3-D modeling. Maybe some kind of public speaking thing where people come and hear you say things once a week, like church, but without the Holy stuff, like maybe a comedy club. A comedy club would be big! And then you could get discovered and get real world jobs from it. Or a nightclub.
Okay, so I have: billboards, a comedy club, and a nightclub. Of course you know someone would invent a sex club.
A 3-D discussion forum might work, or not. There isn't any way to post messages that I saw from the video. It looks like a chat room kinda, with words appearing over people's heads.
Hmm.. maybe some kind of virtual school, and you can only get in by invitation. You have to buy the invitation from a website to get the password and the password changes everyday, so you have to visit the site each day as well.
I just watched it again. It said you can share photos, movies, and music. So maybe pirate movies theatre in your living room?

I did some more research on this and here's what I found.
Q: What is the timeline for rollout?
Closed Beta (appx. 15,000 users): April - August
Open Beta (appx. 50,000 users): August - October
Service Live (50,000+): October
Q: Will we be able to sell products (other than Home assets) online?
Eventually Home will not only support the merchandising of virtual assets, but also will provide cross-promotional opportunities for selling physical goods online.
Q: Could publishers sell tutorials to their games through Home?
Yes, the commercial services and features that publishers and developers will be able to support is extremely broad.
Q: How do users find friends and spaces within Home?
There is an integrated PSN Friends list, and search functionality for spaces.
Q: How many friends can I have?
As many as the PSN friends list allows, which is currently 50.
I just bought psnfriends.com btw, I'll sell it to you for $40k :)
Q: Will there be a restriction to the age you'll be able to give your avatar?
Yes. We will not have avatars which resemble children. The avatars are adult in appearance.
Good news for those of us who aren't pedophiles.

You will be able to auction off your custom made items apparently.
That full Q&A where Sunfrog got the above from - http://www.videogame-news.com/2007/03/09/qa-for-playstation-home/

I can't wait :)
Nice buy with the domain btw. You going to develop it or just sell it?

It does sound more interesting as I read about it, but something just tells me that it won't be a huge success. Nice domain if you actually have it, I'd develop it into a gamer tag database type site though.

What's a gamer tag database?
I don't have a gamer tag, I have a PS3.
I was thinking it might have a chance to succeed because it will be a free download from the Playstation Store, so people won't have to buy it. It'll just be there for them if they want it.

A gamer tag database is where people can sign-up and tell the site their gamer tag name. Then others can search the database for people with similar interests and add them to their buddy list to play online. I think it would be nice because the PS3 has online functionality.

I was just wondering about that last night. I like to play Call of Duty 3 online and I've met some people who play almost every night like me, but I don't know how to add them to my friends list. Someone sent me an invitation to be their friend but I accidently deleted it because I don't know how to use all the menus yet. Hmm..

Oh, I'm sure there is a way to easily add friends through the menus. I don't own a PS3 though, so I don't hold the answer.

Hey! I did the google last night for psnfriends to see if there was any breaking news and this post came up as #1!
How did that happen? I know I didn't do any SEO to it, so how did it come up #1?
I also found someone who's making a European version of the site. :) Do you think we should team up and be buddies? His site is .net.

I know who bought the .net version! It's was Chris369. :D
Look, he wrote a blog about it at: chrisgill.me.uk/
Well that solves the question of "Should we be buddies?" I was just going to ask him the other day how he put that video on his other site because I want to have game trailers on my site. :)
I found some interesting stuff today when I was trying to figure out why this post made the Google SERP. First I learned what SERP means. Lol. Then I learned that typos are good because most people target keywords not mispellings. Since psnfriends is such a new word there aren't many results that are going to show up on google.
It works that way with typos too except that if you typo your keyword google still shows you results. And if the typoed word relates to your niche you might get the top spot on the google and people might click on you.
Basically, keyword typos are good for your website. Here is a handy tool I found that typos for you.

Google probably found the site while crawling and did it's own magic making it #1 result. But yes, Chris has the .net version of the domain. You may be both interested in teaming up to create a nice site for it.

So now I heard Home might be in beta at the end of March. Rumor is that's when the next version update will be, and the version update will include a program to allow you to use your PS3 to do distributed computing when you're not playing games.

Distributed computing? Wow, the PS3 is basically a PC lol.

PS3 is way bad than XBOX 360. You once use the XBOX and you will forget the PS3 completely. Very bad upgrade by sony for playstation series, in my opinion.

Okay, it's ready. Go play on my new site! The users create the content so post stuff and add videos and whatever. Try not to post porn please. :)
