I am wondering if you could look at this site from an SEO perspective.

It has no backlinks, and so I want to begin to market it - being very careful about where the links are coming from. I am looking to target the key words office jet support, Hewlett Packard Ink Cartridges, Hewlett Packard Pavilion Computer, Officejet/Inkjet Support.

It is targetted at earning money by having people clicking on the ads - so we want to keep as many there as possible.

Here is the site: officejetsupport . com (without the spaces)

Please don't type it as a web address, as I am trying to be careful that the links are only placed in relevent places.

To be carefull about not having links elsewhere can be called a very proffesioanal approach. I just decided I won't include lkinks in my reviews anyway. Having links on Publisherforums will hardly harm a webmaster oriented site though.
Also: domain.com is not a link. Only hyperlink is a link (http://...).

So about Officejetsupport site:

Site opens in a moment, lady in the header is OK. Some inkjet cartridge image won't hurt though. Title and subtitle are informative, but fonts do not match for my taste. Title font is kind a blurred, not really, but I think it could be made bold, simple and clear - with one unique color. From SEO point, title should contain particular keywords: inkjet cartridges...with keywords continuing (but not repeating) in subtitle.

Solution can be this: Officejetsupport can be in the logo as an image - not text. Title (in a <title> tag) and subtitle should contain desired keywords separated with "|" .

You can check Overture suggestions (http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/) and results in G/Y/MSN for Inkjet related keywords.

Navigation: Header should be clickable (Home). Search field should contain "This website" search option.

First text on the Home page should be an introduction text: What can be found here and instructions about printer buying/delivering products if necessary. If the site is ment only like informative (and not affiliate) site, then tutorials, tips about using printer can be on the site.

The whole list of all HP (and/or other printer brands) inkjet printer types list matching with all available cartridges can be set up. Search option "by printer type" AND by exact "cartridge code" can be applied.

CONTENT suggestions: Reviews of inkjet printers. Theory of inkjet printing. Detailed descriptions of colors used in cartridges. News about expecting new inkjet solutions. (About.com is a great source of reviews, particular product info...) Reviews of cartridges. Experience with refilled cartridges. Common problems-solutions. Ads can be embeded between articles and not on the top/bottom of the page.

Where to get backlinks?
Type the keyword (let's say "Hewlett Packard Ink Cartridges" in Seochat PR search tool (http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/pagerank-search/) and you'll get sites listed as in Google. Then click on "View Inbound links" link under each site and after that choose "Order by PR" AND "Results: 100" options and click search again. You'll see exactly from which, how many and how high PR sites that site got backlinks. Then you can contact just the same sites for backlinks.

I am short on time, do you know where I can get some articles written about printers? I agree that it could use some extra, fresh content - but am not sure where to get some.

btw - thanks for your info, is going to be very helpful.

Really does look like a you are domain squatting.

Try to cut down on the links, and I'd care to see more more more more more text on the page.

Sorry to be mean, but if you reviewed printers and stuff, HP might send you free stuff. I know my friend gets that with his electronics blog.

Sincerely,
