What happens when you sell a website?
How do you do it? Do you just give someone your password?
Do you zip up all your folders and say "Here you go."
What if it is a Wordpress site? Do they install Wordpress then you give them your folder of stuff?

I can always tell which threads are yours by just reading the title

Anyway, zip all the files up, take any database backups etc, send it to them and transfer the domain to them.

Can't think of anything else that you would need to do.

You can either give them access to all the files by giving them the account it is hosted with, and they'll use the hosting or migrate it themselves.

But if you don't want to give up that kind of info, zip up the site from the root folder. Along with the database and send it to them. Also, transfer the domain to them and they'll be able to take care of it.

I haven't made a database back up. Oh oh. What will it look like? will it be a folder or a file? Will I be able to find it easily?

lol.
SInce, you seem to have no clue as to how to manage a database. its unlikely that your website uses a database.
If its a dynamic website then it would require Db eg. blogs, cms etc.
You can take a database backup by using Export optoin from phpmyadmin.

Do you have CPanel with your hosting? You can download everything real easy. A database backup will be a simple text file though.

Its better to download a gzipped version.
Google search (http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=take+mysql+database+backup&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8) would give you what you are looking for.

Sometimes you'd need to do a complete domain transfer as well
