I am currently running a website which can be found at http://www.primoblinds.com

This have been up and running for a little while. The first update it reached a PR3 which we were pretty excited about. And while it's continueing to grow we are just looking to make it a very nice and SEO site that will continue to build traffic.

We have recently done a lot of link exchanges with this site....which you can see at a PR2 page http://primoblinds.com/primo_blinds_links.html.

Though we are really wanting or trying to target and/or advertise on a high PR5 or higher front page site. But, it seems very difficult in doing something like this for average to low price.

Some keywords that are currently being hit are:
homemade blinds
matchstick blinds
bottom-up blinds
primoblinds.com
bottom up blinds
primo blinds
window linds
homemade box blinds

But, they are still only getting a few....and to be completely honest right now a lot of traffic is or has spiked up because of stumbleupon reviews.

Looking to improve and suggestions

Hi, will tell you about links but please read few comments first.

Site opened quite fast (under 2 seconds on 1.44MB/s in Europe). All other speed and hosting server tests are close to perfect. Only in china site opens in about 9 seconds, but this is usuall for US based hosting server.

FIRST THING noticed was the heading banner - the title.
Second: Left column of links.

DESIGN: I will behave like a picky visitor/buyer here  . (It's about windows look, so site look is extremely important here.)

HEADER: Title: PRIMO BLINDS should not cover any part of image behind. Windows with blinds on both sides (good idea) should be clearly and undoubtly recognized as such. Don't let anyone to think it's about some stock charts or spredsheet editor...Title is very big or windows are small. I like big titles - this particular ratio is not optimal - a web designer could tell this better. URL in subtitle is not necessary, that place is good for explanation like is this site about: introduction, reselling, selling, service...3-4 words will do.

FRONT/BACKGROUND: Some areas on the central part are of the same color as the background. In this case this gives a little dull impression. Playing a little with brownish colors can bring a solution.

LEFT MENU titles and links break menu borders what is also seen in other browsers (http://browsershots.org/website/http://www.primoblinds.com/). Links should be bolded, they are very thin now.

The window image on the botom is kind of isolated. Two, three images or a photo of a house with primo blinds can be attractive.

The Google banner in a center of the page steals the best place for the content.

I hope Turbowebdesign.net will correct all issues for you for free.

NAVIGATION:

PR =3
Google shows 37 backlinks (http://www.google.si/search?hl=sl&q=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.primoblinds.com%2F&meta=). Backlink update just finished yesterday, I believe, so all backlinks you've found until then, will help toward April's PR update, backlinks gathered from yesterday on will reflect in July's PR update.

Regarding keywords...embed them in anchor text in internal links (in left menu), use theim in titles in inner pages, you can even use them in some backlinks.

Oh yes, for links check this (http://www.iwebtool.com/link_extractor?domain=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hostingzero .com%2Fforum%2Fmemberlist.php&show=2&title=1&address=1&pagerank=1).

From my experience, I see better SEO from the title. So if I were you, I'd make my title: "Mini blind and vertical blind review - Primo Blinds Guide". The keywords are in front of the title, I think more importance is placed on the front. (from experience)

# You have got to change the design. The sidebar looks awefully similar to someof those parking pages. It looks very ameteurish. As if the website was designed using those free tools available in 20 mins. Plus links go outside of the border in Opera, as mentioned by boron.
# Its extremely difficult to get highly ranked for window blinds, as a popular software by the same name exists. So, this would be a bit of a problem for you.
# You do have a few backlinks, but you need more.
# Use <h1> <h2> tags, to highlight keywords instead of using a larger font size. Also try to put these words in bold text.

Hi sacredhoops

If you are really looking for high PR links--just drop me a PM. I am a professional link builder and webmaster with 3 directories and a blog.

I can give you cheap and very permanent links-- 4 PR6, 10 PR5 15 PR4 links at cheap rate on an average $15/link. Please remember that --all links are lifetime--they will not get lost-- and you pay me fully only when you see them spidered for your site as backlinks.

These links will be enough to give you site a PR5.

Also regarding SERPs--- Anchor Words --these techniques are really getting obsolete now. Google knows people buy /make lots of links with the keywords they want to rank/emphasise.

The best thing to rank on serps is CONTENT. I ever optimised my site --just submitted it to directories with the original site title--and use it on forums. But I rank among top 20 on Google for more than 15 Keyowrds!:D

HOW?

Well with link-bulding I made my site cached by google and with lots of good articles I made them love the contents. So when some body searches the keywords--the bots come running to my site and show it:D Very simple.

Hope I am clear with my views.

Google has just updated backlinks, so backlink change is visible now in Google "link:website" and next change will be seen in July , I suppose. There will be no backlink change seen in meantime from Google search.

But -- if you subscribe your site in Google sitemaps and upload a html file on your site through cpanel as suggested, you wil be able to follow backlink count change "in real time" - as often as they will be crowled - this is every few days.

Hey,

Thanks a lot for all the comments and thoughts, I was wondering though. As Jhnrang has stated he has some PR sites that I could do some link exchanges with. First, would you suggest doing these links even if they don't have anything to do with windowblinds, homedecor, or etc?

Just wondering, and thanks again for all the comments above from all.

To hijack a little: Content related links are supposed to have a much higher value in Google, I would really recommend to chose only these.

My suggested alterations. Not to be too critical.

1. Integrate the Google Ads a bit more, they stand out a lot at the moment.
2. You see how the titles over hang on the menu? Do they look any better without an overhang?? Just an idea :).
3. Some of the links also overhang the navigation like the "Pasco Wa Homes For Sale" could you not make them fit a little better.
4. Seperate the footer a bit from the main content area.

All in all not to shabby :).

Good luck with the site.

I'd suggest keeping away from linking with unrelated websites if you can. You'll get a greater impact if your links are from related topics.

Some sites are extremely popular because they are very useful and visitors mention them on all forums and I even mentioned them in one my article as a reference.

So the idea can be to set up an informative, recourcefull site and hope that other will do all that hard linking job on a nice natural way. When building a content you can ask the owners of the sites where you got basic info for a link. So you can have a link on a site with wood manufacture, glass manufactute, architect sites, weather prognosis sites (I mean it), furniture, do-it yourself sites, spare time sites...You don't need to think what some Google robot will calculate about what's related site but about - will your link be annoying or usefull there wherever will be.
