Default Google's "Phrase Rank"

Here's a description about how Google might rank the sites, that's what can be important for positioning in search engines (apart from Page Rank): http://www.seoresearcher.com/googles...hrase-rank.htm

Phrase rank basis is on keyword phrases and relations of more keyword phrases within a text.

Hello There

It is sometimes very confusing to me that---while most people give huge emphasis on backlink building---I found some sites with limited backlinks but high PR. I also found some sites with high Alexa Ranking while their PR is almost nothing.
I understand that SEO depends on onsite optimization and backlink building. While backlinks can be built through direvtories and articles (some other forms also there)--can you please explain what does onsite optimisation means? Is it just choosing the best keywords or there are special program softwares?

Onsite optimization is a set of changes you do on your site in scope to get better position in search ebgine.

Backlink building is to get high PR in the first place. You can't get any PR if you don't have backlinks. You WILL still get some PR without backlinks if you have many inner pages on your site which will point to your Home page.

Backlinks are also important to get listed high in Search engines. But PR and Search engine position are two totaly different thing. The strongest tool for high listing are keywords (keyword phrases, keyword density, keyword placement...)

For onsite SEO it's important that you don't have dynamic URLs (Use URL rewriter if you have them) and deleted pages - which you created and deleted them. Google will still have info abot these pages and if there is no more content on them, your whole site can geta lower weight for this. So use 301 redirect of deleted pages which will direct visitor on a Home page.

Onsite SEO has to be done manualy, but there are many tools for help.

Phrase Rank seems to be on the rise in SEO. I've done it for awhile actually.

Page Rank loses reputation (not among link sellers though...). People at Google know they have to invent something more sophistical. At the last update many sites lost their PR and there were some guessing if some major changes in PR algorhytm were already done...

Very interesting article and well-written (I usually get lost but it was written in simple terms for people like me).

Regarding:

Quote:
Another important feature is the ability of phrases to predict the presence of other phrases in a webpage. For example a phrase ‘President of the United States’ indicates that the document most likely contains the phrase ‘White House’. For every phrase the system creates a corresponding list of related phrases ordered according to their significance. This enables the system to detect spam pages based on the excessive appearance of related phrases.
Could that not pose a problem? Actual, legitimate, sites could be penalized simply for containing repeated phrases and be mistaken for a scraper site... I can see this happening...
